Submission Guidelines...
We have 4 basic criteria for submissions. First, your strip must be
on-line. Second, the strip must be running at least three times a week.
Third, there must be at least 270 cartoons for us to look at. Last,
Plan Nine is not publishing strips that rely heavily on profanity,
nudity, or sexual themes at the moment. We are not by any sense
prudish, we enjoy adult humor, but we are looking for a way of
incorporating it in our existing line without upsetting the folks who
aren't interested. Thus, we are pretty much keeping the titles in the
PG-13 range. We are working on a separate line to address this problem,
so stay tuned!
The basics
out of the way, I am always looking for new material, and would be
happy to look at your work. I have only one favor to ask. Even though
your strips are on-line, I like to read them off-line in hard copy.
There are several reasons for this:
- Monitors
and scanning resolution friendly to the Web do not do justice to most
artwork. I like to look at your work "at its best" in printed form.
After all - we are a publisher!
- I
already spend a not inconsiderable amount of time on-line and to lose
more time wading through archives on a congested web server steals way
too much of my time. Thus, hard copy again speeds things up.
- I always pass along what I read to several
other people in my office, and it is easier to just hand it to them
and let them pencil in comments. Also, due to reason #2 above, time
is again a factor.
