Woof arf rowr meow...

Plan Nine has, over the years, become a temporary, sometimes permanent home, to a number of animal visitors. We believe that somewhere there is a web site that keeps lost, abandoned and injured animals apprised of where they can find a bed, a meal, and/or medical attention. We are convinced we are near the top of this list.

Introducing the first member of the Four-Footed Mafia, we have the Boston Terrier on your right. Lady Eliot is 11 years old, and was adopted by Linda when she was a pup, saving her from probable destruction because she was an "imperfect" example of the breed. She is quite lovable, energetic and, despite various infirmities and near blindness, still moves around just shy of lightspeed, covering anyone within reach with a liberal coating of saliva.

This is Trelane, our 13 year-old who hates to be picked up. Generally, we don't pick him up except when he decides to make a break for the outdoors, as he has in this picture. Although he hates being handled, he loves climbing on laps or chests when they are available and napping. He is also the most peace-loving of our group, although he has chased both dogs out of the house when he thought they had encroached uninvited. Trelane was given to me by a vet friend, who "guilted" me into taking him as a kitten by letting me hold it and mornfully telling me how she would have to "put it to sleep on Monday". I am a sucker.

If Trelane has a "why me" expression on his face on occasion, it is because we periodically do things like this to him.

Mulder is 6 years-old and was found as a kitten wandering down the middle of US 220 one spring day. I gave him to my Mom who spoiled him rotten, petting him for an hour at a time when she talked on the phone. He came back to live with me after my Mother's untimely death, and still gets terribly affectionate when anyone gets on the phone. While very friendly, he spooks easy at sudden noises, a fact that has left me with gouges on my chest.

But wait! There's more!
